The Shakespeare Archives is an ongoing project producing short-form Shakespeare content, that is both cinematically engaging whilst maintaining Shakespeare’s original language and identity. These pieces are not only created for fans of the original plays, but also for people who have never read or watched any of his works; as well as students who are looking for more approachable and modern ways to explore these texts and characters.

HOUSE OF GLOUCESTER
March 2022
Amidst a world thrown into chaos by a king that many believe to be mad, two brothers must navigate the many trials and tribulations that come from being the heirs to the House of Gloucester.
‘House of Gloucester‘ was a dream project for Luke for many years. It began as a thought project during his final year at the BRIT School, and took four more years to come to fruition.
The play takes the Sub-Plot from ‘King Lear‘ and brings it to the forefront: the conflict between two brothers who have lived two very different lives, a father who has become incredulous to the country’s goings on, and a King who’s actions no one understands.
Performed on the 18th of March 2022 at Rose Bruford College, House of Gloucester was brought to life by an incredible cast and crew who dedicated their time to the project alongside their studies.

The readings became more and more elaborate as they went on. With Macbeth, no one really knew how the reading would turn out, but by King Lear, we had costume changes, live musical performances, and even fake blood!
Though everyone was stuck inside and isolated, that didn’t stop them from fully throwing themselves into the characters and bringing them to life.
